Job Roles allow you to represents a functional capacity or a skill set usually used for effective resource planning. This helps manage users efficiently and also plan effectively when you are unsure which user to assign to the work. What's more, you can also assign cost and bill rates to job roles allowing you to track project costing and billing associated with job roles.

To create Job Role:

  1. Go to Administration > Under Project Management > Job Roles.
  2. Click on Add.
  3. In the new pop-up, enter the Job role under Name. For e.g: Developer, Architect, etc.
  4. You can also enter the Cost and Bill Rate for this role. These rates are used to calculate the Planned and Actual costs and Revenue when you assign this role on tasks.
  5. Click on Save

Some Points to remember:

  • Job Roles are available like Virtual Users. So, you can use them while assigning tasks. 
  • Their “Availability” in Time Phased reports like Capacity Reports, etc. is always 0.
  • When a Job Role is deleted, all its associated assignments are deleted.
