If you are using work flows to track processes like You can choose to allow clients to initiate certain project apps (processes) such as help desk requests, issue / bug tracking, change requests, etc. your clients can initiate them. Your Clients can participate in a process if they have initiated the process and it is marked as "client visible".
To participate in project processes:

To initiate project apps:
- Clients can go to their specific project.
- Click on the three-line menu
- Go to Add and then to the specific app item.
- In the Summary box, type the summary for this app item.
- Fill in the other details and you can attach files if any.
