Info

Celoxis can import projects exported from Microsoft Project 2010 and Microsoft Project 2013

To import a project from Microsoft Project:

  1. Save your Microsoft Project plan as an .mpp or .xml file.
  2. In Celoxis, from the main menu, click Add, point to to Project and then New , and then click Import Microsoft Project.

    Info

If you have already created a project, then you can import the MPP/ XML in the project from the 'More' > 'Import' option under Interactive Gantt.

    Click on Import Microsoft Project

    .

  3. Click Browse to navigate to the Microsoft Project file.
  4. Select the desired file.
  5. Click Next
  6. You are prompted to map the resources from MS Project to corresponding Celoxis users. If the users are created in Celoxis with the same name as MS Project, then the mapping is automatically done.
  7. Click Next

    Info

If you are importing tasks in an existing project, then you are asked if the existing tasks in the project are to be maintained or deleted. You can check the tasks to be deleted. If the tasks in the MPP/XML is the same, then the mapping is done automatically.

  8. On the Add Project window, you can then define/change the project's attributes like the Dates, name, client etc or enter the custom fields.
  9. Click Save
  10. The imported project is displayed.

Info
  • When importing, the tasks will be scheduled as per the project/resource calendar defined in Celoxis. So, if there are non-working days in Celoxis calendar, then the tasks dates will be pushed out to the next available date.
  • If you have manually scheduled tasks in the MSP file, then they are imported as-is. For details, refer here.
  • Tasks in MSP which are effort-driven are not supported by Celoxis. The scheduling of such tasks is done as per Celoxis computation.
  • If you export a project to MS Project and import it back to Celoxis, then the attribute Task Field 10 is mapped to the Celoxis ID field for Task for the seamless import.
