As projects progresses, the project manager might want to get a real-time view of his resources work loads based on actual approved time. This report provides visibility of free resources & helps the PM adjust allocations to ensure optimal resource utilization.

Lets take an example:

A resource Arnold is assigned to a task 'Project KickOff'

  • Task Schedule: From 11th to 13th in a month i.e 3 days
  • Work: 12h (Work)
  • Allocation: 50%

So, the allocation for Arnold (Hours (Est)) will be divided across the planned dates for the task according to availability and allocation (50%) which is as follows:

11th
12th
13th
444

Arnold fills time-entry of 4 hours for 11th. Today is 12th 12:00 PM.
As 4 hours of Arnold's working time as already passed (8AM-5PM), the remaining available hours for today is 4 and for next day is 8. So, Arnold is available 12h to complete the 8h of remaining work for the planned dates of the task.
So, today(12th 12:00 PM), Arnold will have to do 2.7h of work in 4h
i.e For 8 hours of remaining work, Arnold is available for 12 hours. So, how much work should he do for 4 hours of availability? (8*4)/12=2.7

And remaining 5.3h (8-2.7)on 13th for this task.

So, for Arnold, remaining availability for the dates is as follows:

11th
12th
13th
4 (8-4 approved hours)5.3 (8-2.7)2.7 (8-5.3)
