The Notification center allows the users to receive updates on items they are following or assigned. The purpose is to eliminate the sole dependency on emails to communicate about work updates.
A user needs to have "View" privilege to the work item to be able to receive the in-app notifications or mentions.

In-App Notifications
The in-app notifications include updates about new work assignments, modification to work items, updates on tasks, reply to a discussion you are currently working on or following.
@Mentions
Using @mentions, you can directly address a user in work item communication thus getting the user's attention to it.
You can mention a user while:
- Adding a comment on a task.
- Updating a task progress.
- Performing an action (transition), reassigning or adding a comment to an app item.
- Adding or replying to a discussion.
. You can @mention a user using his/her email address, login name whichever is unique. If more than one user has a similar name, you will be presented with the user dop-down to pick the relevant user.
- Mentions is not available for client logins. However, a client can mention the users when replying to discussions or app items.
- You can also mention users when accessing Celoxis on mobile, via email, or API.
