Adding Links
To add a web link:
- Select a folder in which you want to add the web link.
- From the actions drop-down, click on Add Link.
- In the Name box, type the Name of the URL.
- In the URLÂ box, type the url.
- In the Details box, type the description.
- Select the Share with client check box, if you wan it to be visible to your clients.
- Click Save. The web link is added.
You can also link a file which is present on your network share.Â
On Windows:
- Add a web link in Celoxis with the url like file://///servername/sharename/file.ext.Â
- Both, IE and Firefox will load the local file. Note that the directory must be accessible to the user that wants to see the file.
On Linux:
- If you use Linux, (use NFS to mount remote shares), use a url like file:///net/server/folder/file.ext.Â
- A local file on Linux can be stored using file:///home/user/folder/file.ext
Â
- To add web links to local file in Celoxis all your users must either be running Windows or Linux. This does not work for MAC users.
- Firefox users must read http://kb.mozillazine.org/Links_to_local_pages_don%27t_work. You must modify your user.js file to disable the security as mentioned.
- Files stored on local machines will not be accessible in Celoxis search if the URL is not 'reachable' from the Celoxis server. So, it will not work for hosted users (SaaS) but will work for product customers (On-Premise) that use a common file server.
