Task Visual Health Indicators
Celoxis provides visual, traffic signal like indicators to inform the task assignees and the project managers of the current status of the tasks.Â
These indicators are only shown for projects which are in progress i.e. in Execution stage.
Signal          | When |
---|---|
A task is On Time if its Projected Finish is before or on its finish date. [ Projected Finish <= Finish date ] | |
Task is not expected to be completed by the deadline based on its % complete so far. [ Projected Finish > Finish date AND Present Date < Finish date ] | |
Task has not been completed by the finish date. [ Task is not 100% complete AND Present date > Finish date ] | |
The task was supposed to start but could not because of its incomplete predecessors. | |
The task has not yet started, and the task date is in Future. | |
The task is 100% complete. |
You can also define your own visual indicators based on your company requirements. To know more, please refer Define your own Visual Indicators section.
Celoxis calculates the projected finish date of a task based on the % complete i.e. the rate (speed) of work assuming equal progress every day for the entire duration of the task. For instance, a 10-day task is expected to make progress of 10% each day. Thus, if the task is marked 50% complete after five days, at the current rate, the task will be completed on time. But if a task is marked 30% or 40% complete after five days, at the current rate, the task will not be completed on time. By this estimation, Celoxis displays the RAG signals and also computes the projected finish dates of all dependent tasks which allow the project manager to take corrective actions in advance and avoid task delays. In real life scenarios, a task cannot make equal progress each day. However, the idea is to have a fair estimate that provides some value to your everyday working
Budget Health
Based on the task % complete and the actual cost incurred, the projected cost is derived. The projected cost is then compared with the budget or Cost (Est) if Budget is not specified, based on which Celoxis displays the visual (Budget) health indicators.
Signal | When |
---|---|
Projected cost is less than or equal to the budget [ Projected Cost <= Budget OR Planned Cost if Budget is not specified ] | |
Projected cost has exceeded the budget. [ Projected Cost > Budget OR Planned Cost if Budget is not specified ] | |
Actual cost is more than the budget. [ Actual Cost > Budget OR Planned Cost if Budget is not specified ] |
For instance, your budget for a task is $200 (this includes labor, material, and fixed cost if any). Now, when you spend $200 on the task, ideally your task should have been 100% completed. If your task is 50% complete and you have spent $100, Celoxis displays the green signal indicating that your project is "On Budget".
But if you have spent $150, and your project is only 50% completed, that means by the time your project is 100% complete, you would have spent $300 by the current rate of spending. In such a situation, Celoxis displays the signal indicating that your task budget is At Risk. And if your actual cost spent exceeds $200 Celoxis displays the signal indicating your task is Over Budget.Â
