You can control which email notifications you wish to receive.

To Change your Notifications:

On the main menu, click on your profile picture, and then click My Settings.
On the pop-up window, click on the Preferences tab.
Under the Email Notifications section, select the checkboxes for the categories for which you want email notifications.
Click Save. Your email notifications are customized.

For	Notification	Who will receive it.
Projects managed by me	Task is off track.	Any task in the project, where the user is the PM becomes Overdue.
	Task did not start because of incomplete predecessors.	The PM will receive a notification if any task is/are not able to start because of incomplete predecessors. (The project option: Tasks should start when all predecessors are complete. should be checked for this).
	Work Item progress is updated	The PM receives this notification when team members update their tasks (Progress Updates and Time-entries against tasks). When the 'Cc' is selected when making a progress update, the team members are also notified.
Tasks assigned to me	Task is modified.	The assignee of the task will receive this when task attributes like - Start Date, Duration, Finish date, Resource allocation, etc is changed.
	Task is assigned to you.	The resource who is assigned to the task will receive this mail.
	Task starts in the next 24 hours.	A notification prior to 24 hours task start will be sent to user assigned to the task.
	Task is off track.	A notification sent to the user assigned to the task when its Finish date is crossed and yet Incomplete.
	Task progress is updated.	The PM receives this email when team members update their tasks (Progress Updates and Time-entries against tasks). When the 'Cc' is selected when making a progress update, the team members are also notified.
Time	Time is submitted on your behalf.	The user assigned to the task will get a mail when another user with proxy privilege fills time for him/her.
	Time submitted by you is rejected.	The user will get this notification when the PM rejects his time entries.
	Daily Incomplete Timesheet reminder	If the daily incomplete timesheet reminder setting is enabled at the company level, the user will receive an email if his/her timesheet for the day is incomplete.
Expense	Expense is submitted to you for approval.	The PM will get an email when an expense is submitted against a project he is managing.
	Expense submitted by you is approved.	The user who submitted an expense will get a notification when expense submitted by him/her is approved.
	Expense submitted by you is rejected.	The user who submitted an expense will get a notification when expense submitted by him/her is rejected.
Files	New version of your favorite or checked-out document is available.	The user will receive this notification when a new version of the document marked as favorite by him/her or is being edited is available.
Files	New documents or versions are available in your favorite folders.	The user will receive this notification when a new document or version of the document is available in folder which is marked as favorite by you.
Apps	Item is assigned to you.	The user receives this notification when an app item is assigned to him/her
	Item assigned to you is updated.	The user assigned to an app item receives this notification when a comment is added or the attributes of the item are changed.
	Item assigned to you is delayed.	The user assigned to an app item receives this notification when the Due Date of the item is crossed.
	Item for which you are the state manager is delayed.	The State Manager of the item state receives this notification when the Due Date of the item is crossed.
	Item for which you are the state manager is unassigned	The State Manager of an app item state receives this notification when a new item is created with the 'Assigned To' field blank.
	Item is assigned to a state for which you are the manager	The State Manager of the project receives this notification when the app item is assigned to him/her.

For blocked and Overdue tasks, the notifications are sent out at 1 AM, 7 AM, 1 PM, 7 PM (server time)
