Budgeting Projects

A project may have a pre-defined budget or a planned budget that is very crucial to every project.

  • Pre-defined budget
If a project has a pre-defined budget, make sure you reflect amount at a project level. To set the pre-defined budget, Edit the project and enter its budget in the Advanced tab.

  • Plan the budget
While planning your budget, firstly assign the required resources to individual tasks. Then assign the associated costs like the material and fixed costs. The total Estimated Cost of the project is now automatically calculated. You can use this figure as a guideline to decide the final budget. You can set budgets at individual task level if needed, which will be rolled up to its summary task. However budgets of summary tasks will not roll up to the project level. The flexibility lies with the project manager in deciding an overall budget.
