Importing Tasks from Microsoft Project

You can import tasks via CSV in a project directly. If you already have tasks in Microsoft Project (MSP), you can simply import the MPP or XML file into a project. This helps you save considerable time and effort. When you import tasks from Microsoft Project into Celoxis, complete project information such as task's parent-child relationships, dependencies, constraints, and resource assignments are imported.

To import tasks from Microsoft Project :

  1. Save your Microsoft Project plan with tasks as an .mpp or .xml file.
  2. Navigate to the project where you want to import those tasks.
  3. From the page actions shown on the right of the project, click on MoreImport Microsoft Project OR from the Add menu on Gantt, click on Import Microsoft Project
  4. On the pop-up window, select the .MPP or .XML file by clicking on Browse.
  5. Click on Next.
  6. If there are resources in your file, you are prompted to Map Resources. By default Celoxis will map the existing users in Celoxis to the ones in your file, if found.
  7. Click on Next.
  8. If you already have tasks in the project where you are importing the file, you will be prompted to select the existing tasks if you want to delete them (overwrite) or keep them and append the new tasks to the end of the existing tasks. Select the appropriate tasks (if required) to delete and click on Next.
  9. The tasks in the MPP/XML will be successfully imported to the project.

Celoxis will import the MS Project file with task hierarchy and will also map the following fields:
