Calendar Exceptions
To first understand what is meant by a Calendar exception, please click here. There is a company level policy, which decides if the users can define their own work calendar exceptions by creating events. If this policy is set, then a user can create an event in their calendar and mark that event as either Impacts Scheduling - Yes / No. If Yes, there are 2 options.Â
- Yes - Working  – This means that although the time of the event is "non-working" (maybe a weekend or holiday), this exception is created to make that time as working and Yes, it will impact the schedule accordingly. So if you plan to work 4 hours on a Saturday, you may want to create an event in your calendar, mark that as "Impacts Scheduling - Yes - Working". Celoxis will then schedule your tasks for that time.Â
- Yes - Non working  – Similarly, this means that although the time of the event is "working", this exception will make that time as non-working and your tasks will be rescheduled accordingly. For eg, A user going on vacation for 3 days will mark off his/her time on the Calendar with "Impacts Scheduling - Yes - Non Working". It will mark off those 3 days as non working and schedule tasks accordingly.Â
Here are some important points to remember when adding events :
- When you create an event for a work calendar, then those events will always Impact schedule i.e "Yes, Working" OR "Yes, Non Working".
- Only user with administrator privileges can add events for other users or for work calendars which Impacts Scheduling.
- A non-admin user can add non-impacting (i.e Impacts Scheduling = No) events for Everyone.
- The Timezone Independent checkbox is only visible when the event is created for Work calendars or Everyone.
- The Reminder can be set for an event when the event is for a specific user only; not for Work Calendar or Everyone.
- When an event impacts schedule, then the event Sharing type is always Public.
